Security man Tarversman sent to prison for allegedly stealing N50m property

A security man, Kahan Alfred Tarversman, 22, has been arrested and arraigned before a Lagos Magistrate’s Court for allegedly stealing galvanized pipes and cables valued at N50m.
The property belonged to the Management of Spyglass Security Limited. He was alleged to have escaped after stealing the pipes and cable.
Police alleged that the defendant was ordered arrested by the Assistant Inspector General of Police, AIG in charge of Zone 2 Command, Lagos following a petition by the Management of Spyglass Security Limited.
The defendant from Benue State was charged before the Tinubu Magistrate’s Court on a two-count charge of conspiracy and stealing.
Police Prosecuting Counsel, ASP Jimoh Joseph told the Court in the charge marked K/02/2022 that the defendant and others still at large committed the offence on 1 December, 2021 at the premises of NATCOM NTEL located at 23, Saka Tinubu Street, Victoria Island, Lagos.
Joseph informed the Court that the defendant used his position as a security man to steal the properties valued at N50m and escaped before he was tracked and arrested at a hideout.
He said the offences the defendant committed were punishable under sessions 411 and 287 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015.
The defendant, however, pleaded not guilty to the charges and Magistrate A.T. Omoyele granted him N5m bail with two sureties each in like sum.
Omoyele adjourned the case till 21 May, 2022 for mention and ordered that the defendant be detained at the Ikoyi Correctional Facility till he perfected the bail conditions.
