The All Progressive Congress (APC) has vowed to stop what it called “politics of imposition” in Enugu state.
Chief Ugochukwu Agballa, the state APC Chairman stated this on Wednesday during the handover of Petrus and Chianuka Memorial Hostel, built by him, to the Mater Dei Secondary School in Udi.
The APC state chairman alleged that the politics of imposition by the ruling Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) had prevented many individuals from participating in the political development of the state.
Agballa revealed that he joined the APC to make Enugu politics more competitive as well as provide an alternative platform for the people to actualise their political dreams.
When asked why he built the hostel, the APC Chief said that it was part of his contribution to the development of education. Also, it was erected in honour of his late parents.
He appealed to wealthy individuals in the state to assist in the development of their communities, as the government alone cannot do it all.
Governor Hope Uzodinma commended Agballa for his kind gesture, noting that the hostel would go a long way in solving accommodation issues in the school.
Represented by one of his aides, Mr Chinedu Nwanebu, the governor stressed that the party is ready to take over the entire southeast states in 2023.
“We are putting every mechanism in place to achieve that.”
The event was witnessed by many dignitaries including the vice president, Yemi Osinbajo, Gov. Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi, Sen. Ike Ekweremadu, and a former Speaker of the Enugu State House of Assembly, Eugene Odo, among others.
