U13 Football Tourney: JOF announces mouth-watering cash prizes

JOF Nigeria Limited, the sponsors of the U-13 JOF Kids Cup said the winner of the 2022 edition will go home with the sum of N350, 000 as the cash prize alongside a giant trophy.

The Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of JOF Nigeria Limited, the sponsor of the tournament, Dr. Olusegun Olugboyegun, confirmed this during the tournament’s trophy presentation staged in Lagos on Thursday, April 21, 2022.

The CEO, who was represented at the press conference by the company’s Director of Strategic Support Services, Adeyinka Adetunji, said the runners-up would get N250, 000 while the third-placed team will smile home with N200, 000. The fourth-placed team will also earn the sum of N150, 000.

PM News observed that the cash prizes announced this year were more than what was given last year.

However, Adetunji noted that JOF is ready to do more in subsequent years.

Adetuni tagged the 2022 edition a tip of the iceberg and promised that JOF Nigeria Limited won’t stop inspiring grassroots soccer stars to stardom.

The Director of Strategic Support Services also noted that provisions have been made to reward some special talents for this year’s edition.

He said: “We (JOF) have also made provisions to reward some individual players who have distinguished themselves during the tournament. We encourage all the participants to allow the spirit of fair play to guide them in the remaining matches. We wish all the participating clubs successful outings.”

However, speaking at the event, the Lagos State Grassroot Soccer Association who are the organizers of the event thanked the Chairman of JOF Nigeria Limited.

Mr. Omolola Samuel, the General Secretary of the Lagos association, described Olugboyegun as a man who is passionate about the development of youths.

He said: “If you agree with me, we need to extol the virtues of this honorable man and in fact immortalize his humble name.”

Omolola added that the competition sponsored by JOF has gone a long way in motivating the young Nigerians and keeping the children away from perpetual exuberance.

He also presented the young stars to the newsmen to confirm that age cheating was never and will never be allowed in the competition.

Omolola however urged journalists to continue to create more awareness of the competition.

2022 edition of U13 JOF Cups.

This year’s edition kicked off on Saturday 5th of March 2022.

The competition is currently at the quarterfinal stage.

The final will be played on Sunday.
