Operatives of the Rivers State Police Command have apprehended 23-year-old man, Promise Dogoh, for allegedly stealing N640,000 by swapping ATM Cards of victims and withdrawing their money.

According to DSP Grace Iringe-Koko the acting police relations Officer of the Rivers Police Command,the Dogoh who hails from kamnor community in Khana Local Government Area of the state, who specialized in swapping cards, belonging to individuals at several ATM points in Rivers State and subsequently stealing money from their accounts.

Promise Dogoh, 23 years specializes in swapping victim’s ATM cards defrauding them.

She said he however ran out luck on April 22,2022 at Automated Teller Machines (ATM) gallery in Artillery axis of Port Harcourt where he successfully swapped the ATM card of a victim and withdrew the sum of N640,000, leaving
the victim with nothing left in his account.

The frustrated victim reported the matter to Operatives of the State Command who promptly swung into action and arrested the culprit.

He is currently helping the Police in the investigation and shall soon appear in court.

The Commissioner of Police, CP Eboka Friday, admonishes the good people of Rivers State to be wary of strangers at ATM galleries and desist from seeking assistance from them. They should rather approach staffers of the banks who can easily be identified should anything go wrong.
