A Prince of Isheri Olofin Kingdom in Lagos State, Idris Balogun, has declared interest in to vying for Alimosho Federal Constituency seat in the House of Representatives in the 2023 general elections.

Balogun is the son of the late Oba of Isheri-Olofin, Oba Wahab Balogun.

Balogun, who is contesting on the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC), said on Wednesday, that he knew “where the shoe pinches the constituents”.

He said he has come to put smiles on their faces.

According to him, Alimosho Federal Constituency deserves a representative who is ready to serve them and bridge the gaps between the rich and the poor.

“I love humanity and naturally I am a free giver. Giving back to my constituency will not be a problem for me.

“If given the mandate, greater will Alimosho be and greatest it will remain. This is because the doors of my office will be open for all.

“This declaration is borne out of my love for my constituency, as well as my love for humanity in general.

“I believe there is need for improvement on the part of what is currently obtainable at the level of political leadership.”

He promised to enact laws to bridge the gaps between the rich and the poor and facilitate creation, improved resource allocation and stimulate efficient and effective governance for the benefit of the constituency.

Balogun also promised to invest more on education by upgrading schools’ infrastructure and enhancing the working conditions of teachers.

The aspirant said that better days were ahead of the constituents if elected.

“Providing succour for the less privileged has been a major dance step in my life.

“As a grassroot politician, I know my people, I know where the shoes pinches them. As a businessman, I know their daily challenges,” he said.

Balogun, who decried poverty in the land, said that he had put in place a tripod agricultural scheme to fight hunger for the constituents.

The aspirant said that his representation would focus on youth empowerment and youth employment, adding that the youths must be gainfully employed if truly crime rate was to be reduced in the society.

Balogun added that he would sponsor a bill that would cater for the senior citizens in our society.

He called on the leadership of APC and the constituents to join his formidable team to build and develop the constituency together.

“Alimosho Federal Constituency deserves the best. Your desires are my aspiration. My aspiration is yours,” he added.

Mrs Bola Afolabi, Alimosho LGA Women’s leader, called for support for the aspirant, saying he had done a lot to relieve the plight of the people and put smiles on their faces.

“It is not yet time to rest now, let us labour for Oluomo (Balogun). We have seen his efforts in education, road repairs and empowerment of widows among others.

“We should do the needful when time comes for the primaries and the elections proper,” she said.

The declaration was attended by many APC leaders and members in the constituency.

Many of the party leaders who spoke at the event applauded several humanitarian and philanthropic deeds of Balogun, and agreed to support his ambition.
