Manchester City are back on top of the premier league again after demolishing Newcastle United 5-0 on Sunday in a dominant fashion.
City have now opened a three-point gap at the top after Liverpool held Tottenham to a 1-1 draw at the Anfield Stadium on Saturday.
Raheem Sterling grabbed a brace in the encounter as Newcastle were never a match for the defending champions.
The homers opened the scoring on 19 minutes after a headed pass by Joao Cancelo to Sterling, who latched on to it and put the ball into the back of the net with a fine header.
Aymeric Laporte was the quickest to react to a rebounded ball and stabbed the ball into the back of the net to double City’s lead.
Rodri gave City the third goal on 61 minutes from a corner. He was in the right place at the right time, planting his header straight into the bottom left corner.
Oleksandr Zinchenko put the ball on a plate for Phil Foden, who scored with a simple close-range finish on the dot of 90 minutes to give City a 4-0 lead.
Sterling got his brace and City’s 5th goal on added time with a superb goal.
It was a superb work from Jack Grealish, who played a vital role in the build-up. He squared it to Sterling, who beat Martin Dubravka with a brilliant shot into the left side of the net.
