Entries have opened for young Africans who are passionate about filmmaking to apply for the 2023 MultiChoice Talent Factory Academy.
Atinuke Babatunde, the Director of MultiChoice Talent Factory Academy (West Africa hub), confirmed the development at the Yong Filmmakers’ Day, organized by the Africa Magic Viewers’ Choice Awards (AMVCA) today.
Atinuke confirmed that entry opened by 2 pm today (Monday) and will close by 3rd June 2022.
She noted that the focus is on young people (in their 20s) from Southern Africa, West Africa, and East Africa.
According to Atinuke, the academy focused on young people in order to secure the future of the filmmaking industry in Africa.
Atinuke noted that the academy is more committed to the program as past editions have produced talents who are now doing great things in the film industry.
“I am so happy because we all agree that the future is with the youth,” Atinuke added.
However, the East Africa hub of the Academy will be led by Victoria Goro who has a film production career spanning 31 years and is one of the most sought-after documentary production experts in Kenya.
Christopher Puta will lead the Southern Africa hub with 15 years of experience in audio and video production.

The Academy combines film studies such as directing, sound design, and the business of film, to name a few with workplace experience on M-Net’s top productions.
The platform gives a unique opportunity to improve the abilities of young content creators and ultimately contribute to the growth of the local and pan African film and broadcasting industries.
Previous cohorts have also worked with the United Nations’ Verified campaign, and have pitched projects to Partners Against Piracy (PAP) and Creative Development on a climate change campaign.
