The political aspirations of Comrade Olufemi Ajadi of the New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP) have received another boost with a Lagos-based women support group fully pledging its support.
The group, Women Star Group pledged its support at a press conference in Lagos on Wednesday.
Giving a welcome address, the coordinator, Sherifat Olawumi Shittu said they had come to express pledge their support for the political aspirations of Ajadi.
Addressing the women, Shittu emphasized the importance of women in the socio-political activities of any nation, saying they played critical roles in development.
She urged Nigerian women generally to support NNPP, saying the political antecedents of its flagbearer, Sen Rabiu Kwankwaso were well known.
She said Kwankwaso impacted the lives of women while she was governor of Kano state.
“We the Women Star Group of Lagos have invited Ajadi for an interactive discussion and he responds to our invitation which means NNPP has a plan for women if voted in.
“We should all go and get our voters’ cards as that is the only instrument to make our favorite party win in 2023.”
Providing a background, Ajadi’s Head of Media & Strategy, Mr Cami Ezenwa, thanked the women for their gesture.
He underscored the importance of women by saying that they were the neck that controls the head.
He said that when it came to the performance women stood out and that anyone would be taking them for granted at a peril.
He said being a philanthropist, humanist, and entrepreneur, that Ajadi’s presidency would favor Nigeria, urging the women to rally their support.
The chairperson of the National Association of Women Journalists (NAWOJ), Adeola Ekine, asked Ajadi what his agenda for women was and how the agenda would be materialized when he gets to the office.
“The women are not use-and-dump anymore, because we are leaders that produce leaders that are politically engaged in the world. So, we are not second-hand citizens,” she said.
Responding to some of the questions from the women, Ajadi promised them politics of inclusion from the NNPP-led government.
He reiterated that the women should encourage their children and wards who have reached the age of eighteen to get their voters’ cards to bring about the desired change.
He emphasized that women would be highly integrated into the NNPP government, adding that women were created to change the world for the better beyond the popular saying that women: “are meant to be in the kitchen and the other room.”
“Truly, Nigerians are hungry and the money is not in circulation as expected. I promise you that when NNPP is voted in 2023, it will change this country for the better.
“I commend your effort in the propagation of my political aspiration and I am assuring you the prompt implementation of the ideology of inclusiveness,” he said.
