Many Nigerians are angry that President Muhammadu Buhari has not still sacked the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) Governor, Godwin Emefiele, despite rumours that he was sacked on Wednesday.

Many Nigerians were hoping that the rumour of the sack was true, but they were disappointed that Emefiele is still in office.

For the second day running the CBN Governor has been trending on Twitter.

On Thursday, Nigerians have continued to react and vent their anger as they expected that Emefiele should have resigned or be sacked.

Some described him as the worst CBN Governor ever.

Chukwuemeka Chikelu tweeted: “This is the worst CBN Governor in history, he met the Dollar at 164 Naira, and today Dollar is whopping 608 Naira, that is 270% depreciation under his watch.”

AA Ibrahim wrote: “Nigerians believe by law that the CBN governor can’t be sacked. When Jonathan attempted sacking Sanusi in 2014, we said it was illegal. Today, we are asking Buhari to sack Emefiele. You see we don’t care about the law. The court of public opinion cares about public opinions only.”

Kene Kambili wrote: “Emefiele did a terrible job as CBN governor. How that man managed to hold that position for so long is a testament to Buhari’s incompetence.”

Aisha Yesufu said “In as much as I would love@GodwinIEmefiele to be sacked for all his incompetence, failure and politicisation of his office, the President cannot SACK a CBN Governor! There is a process and that process must be followed. It is called Rule of Law.”
