The Deputy Governor of Jigawa state, Alhaji Umar Namadi, has clinched the All Progressives Congress APC governorship ticket.

Namadi was declared the winner after scoring 1,220 votes, his closest rival Sabo Nakudu scored 106 votes, followed by Senator Ibrahim Hassan with 58 votes, Faruku Adamu with 13 votes, and Garin Gabas scored 5 votes.

Namadi is the founder of Namadi, Umar & Co Chartered Accountants firm based in Kano.

In 1993, he was an Associate Member of the Nigeria Institute of Management, Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria, and Chartered Institute of Taxation until 2010 when he became a fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria.
