Jonathan and Atiku Abubakar in PDP brochure for presidential primary

The Peoples Democratic Party appeared unwilling on Saturday to let go its former leader President Goodluck Jonathan, amid speculations some aides of President Buhari are trying to lure him to the All Progressives Congress as flag bearer.

At its presidential primary on Saturday, the PDP published Jonathan’s picture as one of the members of its Board of Trustees in the brochure for the event.

The publication has stirred reactions among members of the PDP and APC turning him into the latest beautiful bride of the Presidential campaign season.

Adiza Yakubu, a PDP sympathiser said the Jonathan administration was the climax of PDP in power and the party would feel truncated if the person who personifies that presidency is allowed to exit.

Chike Nwabuzo, a PDP stalwart, defended the celebration of President Jonathan in the brochure saying that it is fit and proper.

” Jonathan is PDP to the core. We brought him from Deputy Governor to Vice President.

“We made him President. The APC is acting out of desperation. It cannot manage its own crisis and wants to use a PDP symbol to shore its sagging fortunes.

“It has failed Nigerians and should cover its head in shame. How can you start praising a man you defeated for being clueless, a man you people called so many unprintable names because you wanted to win at all costs.

“You now woke up yesterday to conscript him to APC. You should be embarrassed.”

Meanwhile P.M. News learnt from a member of the APC National Working Committee that stories about Jonathan being dragged to contest the APC presidential primary are rumours.

“We don’t know who is pushing the agenda. It has never been discussed at the NWC. May be the chairman Senator Abdullahi knows about it. But he has never brought it to our notice”, he said.
