Liverpool attackers Mane and Salah: frustrated in Paris

Liverpool left-back Andy Robertson has opened up on the mood inside the Liverpool dressing room after the Reds were defeated in the Champions League final by Real Madrid.

A downbeat Robertson said: “The dressing room is quiet, devastated. That is what happens when you don’t win finals.”

Robertson in a report by Mirror highlighted the performance of Madrid shot-stopper Thibaut Courtois.

The former Chelsea goalkeeper was arguably the star player of the match by making a string of fine saves.

These included multiple Mohamed Salah efforts and a Sadio Mane effort which he tipped onto the post in the first half.

Vinicius Junior scored the only goal of the game, two minutes before half-time, to seal the Spanish giant’s 14th Champions League title and ensure that an incredible season for the Reds ended with another disappointment.

It came less than a week after Jurgen Klopp’s side narrowly missed out on the Premier League title to Manchester City.

The Reds lifted both the EFL Cup and FA Cup trophies this campaign, with both victories coming via penalty shootouts after scoreless draws against Chelsea.

However, despite winning two trophies – there will naturally be a great deal of disappointment of missing out on further silverware.

Liverpool had a total of 23 shots during the match, of which nine were on target, six were off target and six were blocked.

By contrast, the Spanish side had only one shot on target and just three efforts on goal in total.
