The proud father of 3 praised his wife, who he described as an elegant stallion that is he is stuck with forever.

HELD BY THE NAIL…for 19years to an amazing woman…my elegant stallion…I bless the day I found you..you fill the essence fueled from on high..my great midwife..tnx for being you and being there for us…thanks Dox..no one but you…my undying love I vow 4 Eva…we bless God good people ..it’s our wedding anniversary ..your prayers will be cherished most…may the good Lord bless you all abundantly.”
Duru in 2007 received the United Nations Ambassador of Peace award for his positive influence on the youths.
In 2010 he was appointed as the interim president of the Actors Guild of Nigeria.
In the same year, he was nominated for Best Actor in a Supporting Role at the Africa Movie Academy Awards.
Duru and his wife Adokiye got married in 2003 and both have three children together.
They both attended the University of Port Harcourt.
