Former lawmaker, Senator Dino Melaye has kicked against move by President Muhammadu Buhari to impose a presidential candidate on the All Progressives Congress (APC).
Buhari, who met with APC governors in Abuja on Tuesday asked them to allow him choose a presidential candidate that would fly the banner of the party in next year’s presidential election.
The president’s move has been causing uproar in the APC as different factions in the party had kicked against Buhari’s plan.
But Melaye, who is a Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) member said on his Intagram page on Wednesday that the move portrayed Buhari as a dictator.
“My fellow country men and women, I am here to address you once again in the course of our nation’s history, the president made a statement yesterday, that portrays dictatorship, that portrays dictatorial tendency.
“No to Imposition by President Buhari,” he said.
