All Progressives Congress presidential aspirant Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, said he gave the vice-presidential slot to Professor Yemi Osinbajo in 2015.
He said the position was to have been his, according to the merger terms between President Buhari’s Congress for Progressive Change [CPC ]and the Action Congress of Nigeria.
He said that he nominated Osinbajo to occupy the post originally given to him.
“I gave Osinbajo my right to be Vice President. You’re hearing this from me for the first time. That’s the truth,” Tinubu said.
“This is not the time to be singing Ogunde’s song, this is time to speak the truth to ourselves…..”
“Buhari offered me a running mate ticket, but some blocs rose against it, fanning ember of Muslim-Muslim ticket.
“I stepped down my ambition and was asked to submit three names for running mate, I submitted Yemi Kadoso, Wale Edun and Yemi Osinbajo but later settled for Osinbajo as Buhari’s running mate.
“I’ve not said this before, This is the first place I am saying this.”
Tinubu spoke about his efforts to help in installing Buhari in 2014.
He said Buhari had already lost in 2003, 2007 and 2011, wept and retired to Kaduna.
He said he went to meet him in Kaduna that with North and South West alliance, Buhari would win and that was exactly what happened.
He said he came to Dapo Abiodun’s aid when he was stoned in ABEOKUTA and with others like Osoba, Dapo Abiodun became the governor.
“He is sitting down here let him deny it. At that moment, Dapo Abiodun bowed”.
Tinubu said he was saying this for the first time publicly. He said he chose Ogun State, Osinbajo’s home State to say it.
He said when Obasanjo was dealing with Atiku, it was me Atiku ran to and I accepted him.
“I’ve never asked for ANYTHING from Buhari Government. I never asked for minister, I never asked for contract. I never asked for anything, nothing whatsoever since 2015…..”
“I’ve been serving them for decades now, now I want to serve too. This is about mental capacity.
“Dapo that is sitting behind me, can he become Governor on his own without my support?…….”
