Davido, Toyin Abraham, and other Nigerian celebrities have mourned the deaths of worshippers killed at St Francis Catholic Church, Owo, in Ondo State.

Gunmen had stormed the church on Sunday and killed scores of worshippers.

Reacting to the sad news, Davido called on God to intervene in Nigeria’s matters.

“Jesus take control …. Pray for Nigeria Rip to all the lost souls 💔 #Prayforondo,” the Nigerian singer wrote on Twitter.”

Nollywood actress Toyin Abraham on her part said:

“My heart goes out to the people of Owo, Ondo state and everyone affected in this tragic incident. May the souls of the departed rest in peace and may God give their loved ones the strength to carry on at this very sad times. My heart is broken.”

However, the Governor of Ondo State, Rotimi Akeredolu vowed to hunt down the terrorists that attacked the church.

The church said: “I am deeply saddened by the unprovoked attack and killing of innocent people of Owo, worshiping at the St. Francis Catholic Church, Today.

“The vile and satanic attack is a calculated assault on the peace-loving people of the Owo Kingdom who have enjoyed relative peace over the years.

“I commiserate with my people in Owo, particularly families of the those who lost their lives to this ugly and unfortunate attack.

“I extend my condolences to Olowo of Owo, Oba Gbadegesin Ogunoye as well as the Catholic Church.

“I urge our people to remain calm and vigilant. Do not take laws into your hands. I have spoken to the heads of the security agencies. I have equally been assured that security operatives would be deployed to monitor and restore normalcy to the Owo kingdom.”
