Hon. Adenaya Fatai, who is vying for the position of member of the Ogun State House of Assembly to represent the Water Side Constituency, has emerged as the New Nigeria People’s Party candidate through consensus.

His emergence was at an NNPP primary exercise held yesterday.

Addressing journalists after the exercise, Fatai thanked the members of the party for their trust.

He also applauded the party leadership for the mature way it had been conducting its primaries.

He said consensus was possible because of the unity of purpose within the party adding that the delegates had shown patriotism

He said, “I have been given the mandate to run for the Ogun State House of Assembly, Water Side Constituency, and I promise to be politically upright throughout my service.

“It is amazing that for the past 22 years, my constituency had been in charge of the old politicians who only used the opportunity to enrich themselves and left the constituency undeveloped,” he said.

He reiterated that all members of the communities that constitute the Water Side should get their voters’ cards and stand by their votes on the day of the elections.

Olufemi Ajadi with Fatai and other party faithfuls

A stalwart of the party, Olufemi Ajadi, told journalists that he has belief in the mandate given to Fatai and urged the people from the constituency to vote for him (Fatai) to ensure youth’s participation in the forthcoming general election.

“Nigeria has old eggs in the basket in the affairs of politics, which means Nigeria has many old politicians that need to be changed with the new eggs, Nigerian youths if truly we are clamoring for a new Nigeria,” he said.
