Buhari to Presidential aspirants: Avoid acrimony, embrace sportsmanship spirit

President Muhammadu Buhari has urged all APC Presidential aspirants to avoid acrimony and embrace the spirit of sportsmanship.

The president spoke at the Eagle Square, Abuja at the ongoing APC Presidential primary election on Wednesday morning.

Buhari urged the aspirants to abide by party rules and party reconciliation processes.

According to him, “in any contest, there are bound to be winners and runners-up. All aspirants are to embrace the spirit of sportsmanship.

“We must avoid acrimony and embrace the spirit of sportsmanship.

The president also enjoined the APC leadership to be fair to all and create level playing field for all presidential aspirants.

He urged them to follow the due process in party rules and urged delegates to abide by the rules.

Buhari insisted that when the party members were united, it would pave the way for victory in next year’s presidential election.

He pledged to support the party’s leadership any time they needed his support and that they should not hesitate to call on him.

The president lamented 16 years of PDP’s misrule and urged APC to do the right to ensure that the PDP did not return to power again and draw the nation backward.
