English professional football player, Fraser Forster has joined Tottenham Hotspur on a free transfer from Southampton.

This was announced on Wednesday, on the club’s website.

Forster, 34, will serve as a backup to club captain, Hugo Lloris on a two-year deal. He will officially join the club on July 1 when his Southampton contract expires.

Spurs were looking for a new goalkeeper after deciding not to make Pierluigi Gollini’s loan from Atalanta permanent.

Following a successful career north of the line with Celtic, Forster spent eight years at St Mary’s, though he did return to Glasgow for the 2019/2020 season.

For the 2021/2022 season, he rotated with Alex McCarthy at Southampton, putting in a strong performance in the Saints’ 1-0 win over Arsenal, which incidentally helped Spurs qualify for next season’s Champions League.

His sterling performances saw Forster named in Gareth Southgate’s England squad for this year’s March internationals, but not for this month’s round of Nations League matches.
