Ikoyi/Obalende Ohanneze Ndigbo elects new chairman

The Ohanneze Ndigbo living in Ikoyi/Obalende Local Government Developmen Area, LCDA comprising Ikoyi, Dolphin, Ajeniya, Odo, Eleshin, Moshalashi Toyan have elected a new chairman to pilot the affairs of the Apex Igbo Cultural Group for the next four years.

In a statement released, the new Chairman is Chief Godwin Okeke Ahama Ndike Ndigbo of Ikoyi/Obalende LCDA.

Okeke who had been the Vice Chairman to the outgoing Chairman of the Igbo Cultural group, Chief Chukwu Edozie for the past four years defeated his rival, Mr Victor Ammaso in the peaceful, keenly contested election held at the Eti-Osa House, Ikota Housing Estate, Lekki, Lagos on Saturday, 4 June, 2022.

Following the triumph of Chief Okeke from Imo State, Southeast Nigeria but lived in Obalende for the past 30 years at the poll, residents of Ikoyi/Obalende trooped out to jubilate saying that they knew he would win the chairmanship poll based on his exemplary performance as Vice Chairman of the Igbo Cultural group for the last four years.

Speaking with PM NEWS after the election, Okeke said, “First and foremost, I must thank Almighty God for giving me the grace to win the Ikoyi/Obalende Ohaneze Ndigbo Chairmanship election without much ado.

“I must also hail our indefatigable, irrepressible and detribalized National leader of All Progressives Congress, APC, Asiwaju Ahmed Tinubu and other leaders for carrying the Ndigbo in Ikoyi/Obalende LCDA along in the affairs of Lagos State.

“My major priority as the Chairman of Ndigbo in Ikoyi Obalende LCDA would be to further cement the cordial relationship between the Igbos and other tribes in the LCDA to ensure continued peaceful co-existence and more importantly fight for the welfare of the Igbos in the area by ensuring that what is due for them reached them without compromise,” Okeke stated.
