Speaker of the Ogun State Assembly, Mr. Olakunle Oluomo has implored Nigerians to obtain their Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs) to enhance the tenets of democracy.

Oluomo said this on Sunday, in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Abeokuta to commemorate June 12.

He said that it was important for all qualified citizens to get their PVCs to sustain democracy and that it remains the only ticket to elect the people’s choice.

He said that Nigerians should collect their PVCs and be ready to determine winners for the 2023 general elections for June 12 to remain valid.

“We should continue to enhance the tenets of democracy by participating fully in the 2023 general elections. Those yet to get their PVCs should endeavor to do the needful.

Describing Chief M.K.O Abiola as Nigeria’s martyr for democracy, Oluomo said that the martyr must be continuously celebrated.

According to the Speaker, it was important for leaders to emulate qualities like the sincerity of purpose, selfless service, and honesty of the late MKO Abiola.

Meanwhile, he urged Nigerians to unite and sustain the nation’s democracy, irrespective of their religious or tribal affiliations.
