Senate names Aduda new minority leader

The seat of the Minority Leader became vacant after Senator Eyinnaya Abaribe (Abia-South) defected from the People's Democratic Party (PDP).

The Nigerian Senate on Tuesday, named Senator Philip Tenimu Aduda (FCT) as the new Minority Leader.

His appointment was announced by the President of the Senate, Ahmad Lawan during a plenary.

The seat of the Minority Leader became vacant after Senator Eyinnaya Abaribe (Abia-South) defected from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

Senator Chukwuka Utazi was also announced as the Senate Minority Whip.

The PDP nominated the two senators for the position, according to a letter signed by the National Secretary of the party, Samuel Anyanwu and read at plenary.
