Nigerian singer and producer, Kehinde Falade with the stage name Saint Keliz has likened popular social media platforms like TikTok, Instagram and Facebook to a record label.
Keliz mentioned this while at an EP lunch of another colleague of his.
Speaking further, he insisted that, “The new Generation artistes are very lucky as they do not need to physically run after Record Labels for promotions as they can do it on their own via TikTok, Instagram and other social media platforms.”
He said: “The app isn’t just a digital playground for Grammy winners and Billboard chart toppers, either. Artistes of all stripes, from pop superstars to DIY indie bands and bedroom songwriters gravitate to Instagram and TikTok to promote their work, document their day, seek inspiration and interact with others. In fact, it’s rare to find an active band, singer, or other musical artist who doesn’t have an Instagram account.”
“Instagram and TikTok are huge for music, serving as a uniquely addictive and organic conduit between artistes and fans.
“The Nigerian music space is littered with artistes who blew up just by pushing their contents on social media and have become very big sensation in the Entertainment Industry.
“There are millions of people who access social media everyday around the world and they are looking for content directly from artistes and influencers,” said Saint Keliz.
Saint Keliz even though signed to a record label insists that music artistes could only make a name for themselves by pushing their brand/contents across social media.
