Adamu Garba, a politician, was subjected to heavy criticism on Tuesday after he rejoined the All Progressives Congress (APC).

Adamu had defected to the Young Progressives Party (YPP) in May to contest for the presidential ticket but lost to Malik Ado-Ibrahim.

When he obtained YPP’s presidential expression of interest and nomination form in May, Garba said the youth have no future in the APC and in the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

He said APC has lost “lost its moral bearings” and he “cannot continue to retain membership of a party that favours money beyond competency, vested interest beyond common interest, chronic elitism beyond public good, politics of exclusion beyond inclusion.”

Adamu added that “I do not in all honesty, sincerely and with consciousness believe that any young man in Nigeria has a future or model worthy of emulation for the benefit of Nigeria in APC. I believe the party has drifted so much from the original beliefs of its foundation to something more cynical, undemocratic institution.”

But in a tweet on Tuesday, the politician said he is back in the ruling party.

He said it would do harm to the country if he did not support Bola Tinubu, APC presidential candidate, and Kashim Shettima, his running mate.

“Yes, I am fully back to APC. I could do more harm to my country, Nigeria if I did not support a combination of a great strategist and a great tactician on a single ticket,” he tweeted.

Reacting to the announcement, many commentators noted that Adamu lacks the integrity he claims to possess.

Daniel Regha wrote: “Adamu Garba you initially said that the APC “has no credible, practicable plans for the future of Nigeria” so what changed? From the beginning it was obvious that you had no integrity, you only left the APC before because no one rated you; It’s beyond shameful! how impenitent u are.”
