How notorious burglar Ibrahim stole 9 plasma TVs in Edo, Lagos hotels

Operatives of Edo State Police Command have arrested a notorious burglar, Ahmed Ibrahim, for stealing nine plasma television sets from three different hotels in Edo and Lagos states.

This was contained in a statement by the Command’s Deputy Public Relations Officer, ASP Jennifer Iwegbu.

According to the statement, “On 14/07/2022 at about 0930hrs, Edo State Police Command has arrested one suspect for burglary and stealing.

“This success was made possible by Ekpoma Area Command, who recieved complaint from one Mr Adekunle Olalekun, the manager of Mindcast hotel, Ekpoma, Edo state, that on 13/07/2022 at about 1700hrs, one Ahmed Ibrahim ‘M’ 24yrs booked for three rooms in the hotel.

Shortly after booking the rooms, the said Ahmed Ibrahim left the hotel unnoticed with his luggage that he came in with, unknown to the management of the hotel that the three television sets in the three rooms he booked were what the suspect packaged in his luggage when checking out.

“Through discreet investigation and intelligence gathering by police operatives, the suspect was traced to Hausa cattle market, Ekpoma, where he was arrested. It was discovered that the suspect had neatly packed the plasma televisions in readiness to take them to Abuja for sale before his arrest.

“He has confessed to have stolen the three plasma television sets and also six other plasma televisions from two separate locations: three from Beverly Hills hotel, Ekpoma, Esan West Local Government Area of Edo State and the other three from a hotel suituated at Mazamaza area of Lagos state.”

The statement added that the suspect will soon be arraigned in court.

Also, the Command has smashed a six-man robbery syndicate who specialize in robbing people of their mobile phones and other valuables.

The suspects, Okechukwu Joseph (32), Prince Efe (26), Faith Effiong (22), Oliver Gozie (26), David Richard-Ughotevbe (20), and Azeez Adio (22), were arrested by the anti kidnapping and cyber crime unit of the Command.

The Command’s spokesman, SP Chidi Nwabuzor, who paraded the suspects on Thursday, disclosed that GSM phones were recovered from the suspects.

“The Command’s Anti-Kidnapping and Cyber Crime Unit got a complaint from one Mrs Omoyemi Oviosu, that on 6/5/2022 unknown robbers broke into her house at No 50, Okunseri street, off Dumez Road, Benin, and stole her Itel Android phone and other valuables.

“She said the next-day, the robbers withdrew N400,000 from her Access Bank account,” Nwabuzor said.

He added that upon receiving the information, the operatives of the unit swung into action, using technical intelligent, arrested Joseph from Oyo and other five who were arrested consequently at Aduwawa in Benin.

The PPRO who said the robbery suspects had made confessional statement, advised the general public to protect their SIM cards and report any missing SIM cards or phones to nearby police station for police abstract.

Meanwhile, the State Commissioner of Police, Abutu Yaro, has vowed that the Command under his watch will not let miscreants make life unbearable for the good people of the state.

Yaro who urged members of the public to keep up their patriotic responsibilities and go about their lawful business(es), further enjoins the citizens of the state to continue to avail the Command with credible and useful information(s).
