Minister of Interior Rauf Aregbesola has deleted the controversial Facebook post in which he appeared to gloat over the defeat of APC Governor Gboyega Oyetola by his PDP challenger, Ademola Adeleke.

Aregbesola made the post at about 8a.m on Sunday moments after the Independent National Electoral Commission declared Adeleke as the governor-elect of Osun State.

Quoting Daniel 4:17, Aregbesola wrote: “This matter is by the decree of the watchers, and the demand by the word of the holy ones: to the intent that the living may know that the most High ruleth in the kingdom of men, and giveth it to whomsoever he will, and setteth up over it the basest of men.”

The quote was a direct jab at Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, APC national leader and his former mentor, as he suggests that God is more powerful than he is.

But after some backlash, Aregbesola deleted the post.

The post generated close to 2000 comments in less than one hour, with some praising him and some others lambasting him for working for the downfall of his party’s candidate, his successor.
