President Volodymyr Zelensky of Ukraine has sacked the head of the country’s domestic security service, Ivan Bakanov, and the state prosecutor, Iryna Venediktova.

He announced their dismissal on Sunday, during his daily address to the nation.

Zelensky said there are over 650 cases of suspected treason and aiding and abetting of Russia by Ukrainian security officials that are currently being investigated.

These, he said, include about 60 cases of officials who have remained in territories occupied by Russia and are working against Ukraine.
