Ya’ú Salaha docked for stealing N940,000 from Alaba market

A 35-year-old man, Ya’ú Salaha, was on Wednesday docked in an Ojo Magistrates’ Court, Lagos, for allegedly stealing N940,000 from a shop in Alaba Market,

The police charged Salaha with theft.

He pleaded but pleaded not guilty to the charge.

The prosecutor, Insp Esther Adesulu, told the court that the defendant committed the offence on May 5, at the Alaba International Market in Ojo, Lagos.

Salaha was alleged that the defendant stole N940,000 in Alaba Market, Lagos, belonging to the complainant, Mr Rabe Abdullrahmon.

The offence, she said, contravenes the provisions of Section 287 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015.

The Magistrate, Mrs D.S. Odukoya, admitted the defendant to bail in the sum of N200,000 with two responsible sureties in like sum.

Odukoya adjourned the case until Aug. 16 for mention. (NAN)
