Pastor Tunde Bakare has rubbished the statements claiming he slammed the Christian Association of Nigeria, CAN, for rejecting the Muslim-Muslim ticket presented by the All Progressives Congress.

The statement credited to Bakare which went viral on Friday reads;

“CAN want to lure APC into presenting a weak candidate, they said “2023 is Christian President or nothing”. APC didn’t fall for their gimmick, they presented their strongest and best. Again, they started another one “Running Mate must be Christian”, again, APC choose the best as running mate. You can’t blackmail the APC. We are not a religious organization but a Political party. There’s a massive difference between CAN and Christians. Christians are righteous people who behave like Christ, and CAN is politicians who behave like PDP.
I Am A Christian And A Pastor And Asiwaju Tinubu Is My Candidate
– Pastor Tunde Bakare.”

However, in a rebuttal sent to PM News on Saturday morning, Bakare said the statement was fabricated by mischievous entities.

He vowed to take legal action if the peddlers fail to desist from “condemnable acts.”

“I wish to state unequivocally that it is a fabrication in its entirety and as such should be completely disregarded.

“I did not at any time grant an interview or preach on any platform where I shared such views.

“For the avoidance of doubt, I am a nation builder who will not in any way create real or imaginary tensions or divisions among the people of our great country through the medium of political parties or religion.

“Again the statement did not originate from me and does not in any way represent my position.

“It is part of the lying propaganda of mischievous entities seeking approval by deceit. If the peddlers of this deliberate falsehood fail to desist from their highly condemnable acts they will face the fullest extent of the law without further delay.”
