Biden out of isolation, tests negative for COVID-19

The White House on Wednesday confirmed that U.S. President Joe Biden is leaving his COVID-19 isolation after testing negative twice.

Biden tested positive on Thursday last week and was said to have experienced “very mild symptoms’’.

He went into isolation and was given a five-day course of Paxlovid, a Coronavirus treatment medication.

In a letter by the White House physician, Kevin O’Connor, he noted that the 79-year-old president tested negative on Tuesday night and again on Wednesday morning.

“His symptoms have been steadily improving, and are almost completely resolved,’’ O’Connor wrote.

Biden, who is fully vaccinated and received two booster shots, was reported to have contracted the BA.5 Covid-19 variant.
