The remains of Sola Onayiga, the veteran actress who played Ireti in the popular sitcom “Fuji House of Commotion” will be laid to rest on Friday, August 19.

Onayiga’s burial announcement was made known by media personality, Shaibu Husseini on Friday, August 5 via his Instagram page.

The burial ceremony will begin with a night of tributes for the deceased at the National Theatre, Orile Igamu Lagos on Tuesday, August 16.

The service of songs follows on Thursday at the RCCG Joyful Assembly, Lagos Province 63, Ikorodu, Lagos.

Onayiga’s remains will be committed to mother earth on Friday, August 19, 2022, at Western Cemetry Funeral Home, Ijede road in Ikorodu.

Captioning the post, Husseini wrote: “The fiery actress of the stage and screen Ireti Sola Onayiga nee Awojobi aka Catering Practicals will be buried on Friday, August 19 in Ikorodu, Lagos State. Tribute Night organised by @NANTAPnig and a Committee of friends is on August 16. Join us to bid Auntie Sola farewell. See this poster for details. Journey Well Auntie Sola who calls me ‘My Brother’!”

Onayiga was popularly known for her role as Ireti in the popular Fuji House of Commotion sitcom produced by the late Amaka Igwe.

She starred alongside Ngozi Nwosu, Ireti Doyle, John Njamah and Andrea Chikachukwu.

She was also featured as Madam Philo in BBC’s Story Story, Voices From The Market Place.

Sola died on July 18, 2022.
