Nigeria’s Udodi Chudi Onwuzurike has qualified for the men’s 200 metres final after winning the second semi-finals at the ongoing Commonwealth Games.
The Commonwealth Games is taking place in Birmingham, United Kingdom.
The 19-year-old Nigerian won the race in a time of 20.56 seconds for a brilliant performance to beat Emmanuel Eseme of Cameroon who came second at a time 20.69 seconds of and Dwight St. Hillaire of Trinidad and Tobago who came third in a time of 20.95 seconds.
In the first Semi-final, Nigeria’s Alaba Olukunle Akintola crashed out, placing a distant 5th position.
The race was won by British Sprinter, Zharnel Hughes, with Brendon Rodney of Canada coming second in the race.
In the third Semi-final, Ifeanyi Emmanuel Ojeli crashed out after coming 6the race in a time of 21.39 seconds.
The race was won by Jereem Richards of Trinidad and Tobago, who reached the finished line in a time of 20.40 seconds and Ghana’s Joseph Paul Amoah, who placed second in a time of 20.51 seconds.
