Masters Reality International Concepts Ltd, the developer of the multi-billion naira Alade Market construction has denounced reports that a Lagos court ordered stoppage of work at the market.
A report in the Tribune last Monday, with the headline: “Court Orders Stoppage Of Construction Works At Alade Market.” said Justice Raliat Adebiyi of a Lagos State High Court sitting in Ikeja has given an order restraining Masters Reality International Concepts Ltd, from engaging in further construction activities on Alade Market, Allen Avenue, pending the determination of a ligation before the court.
The media report also claimed that the judge further stopped the Ikeja Local Government from further adjudicating over the popular Alade Market.
But Masters Reality International Concept, in a statement issued by its client, Barrister Lukman Imam, titled: “Deliberate misrepresentation of facts by Ali Isiba Family over court’s ruling on Alade Market,” said Hon. Justice R.I.B Adebiyi of High Court of Lagos State, Ikeja has not heard the application for interlocutory injunction filed by Ali Isiba family (the Claimants) in the suit.
Imam said contrary to the mendacious reports in the media, their said application has been adjourned by the Court to 11th October, 2022 for hearing.
He added that the Court never ruled that Ikeja Local Government (the 1st Defendant in the suit) should stop adjudicating on any matter, contrary to the strange and absurd assertion by Ali Isiba family.
“How would a Court of law direct a party to a suit before it to stop adjudicating on a matter which is already been adjudicated upon by the same Court?
“Masters Reality Int’l Concepts Ltd (the 2nd Defendant in the suit) has since filed an application to stay the execution and set aside the interim order made by the Court (without jurisdiction) stopping further construction on the land, pending the determination of the Claimants’ aforesaid application for interlocutory injunction.
“The Ali Isiba’s lawyer is yet to file any response to the 2nd Defendant’s said application which was served on him since 14th July, 2022,” he stated.
Imam added that the Ali Isiba family has no loco standi to institute the suit as their late father gave evidence in a 1976 case that he had sold all the land he purportedly bought at Alade village, Ikeja.
