Kenya’s Deputy President William Ruto stunned Raila Odinga’s running mate, Martha Karua in her polling unit, by winning by a landslide.

Results from form 34A posted by Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) showed that at the Mugumo Primary School in Gichugu Constituency where she voted, DP Ruto garnered 911 votes against Mr Odinga’s 311 votes.

Both Odinga and Karua, the first female vice-presidential candidate belong to Azimio la Umoja party.

Ruto is running on the platform of United Democratic Party(UDA)

As more results were declared early Wednesday, Ruto has overtaken Odinga in total votes won.

With results from 4,436 of 46,229 polling units tallied by Nation newspaper, Ruto led with 681,140 Votes or 50.83%. Odinga has 650,262 Votes or 48.54%.
