Wife of Edo State Governor, Betsy Obaseki, has warned politicians to change their attitude by seeking the good of the people in their constituencies in order for them to continue to be relevant in Nigeria.

She gave the warning on Tuesday in Benin, at a ceremony where she handed out appointment letters to 56 persons who were appointed Senior Special Assistants and Special Assistants to the Governor on Gender at the Festival Hall of the Edo State Government House.

She noted that increased political awareness leading up to the 2023 general elections has changed the narrative in politics and is no longer as it used to be, as demonstrated by the outcome of the Edo, Anambra and Osun States Governorship elections.

According to the Edo First Lady, “Everybody is waking up and what that tells us is that it is no longer business as usual.

“Things are changing and the people are ready to decide who will rule them. It is only those politicians who are patriotic in their hearts and minds that will make it in this new dispensation.”

Of the 56 persons appointed, eight are male and 18 are non indigene of the state.

Mrs. Obaseki urged them to take their appointments seriously and do things that will impact their communities positively.
