Youth group asks Wike to fulfill 5,000 jobs promise

Rivers chapter of National Youth Council of Nigeria, NYCN, has asked Governor Nyesom Wike to fulfill his promise employing 5000 youths to fill the existing vacancies in the state civil service.

The Chairman of the NYCN in Rivers State, Chijioke Ihunwo made the appeal as part of activities lined up to mark this year’s International Youth Day.

Chijioke Ihunwo, while commending Governor Wike for his investment in infrastructure, said there is a need for him to shift his focus to social welfare, economic empowerment and creation of jobs to teeming and qualified, but unemployed youths in the state.

On the 2023 general elections, the group asked youths to go about the electioneering processes peacefully, shun violence and thuggery.

He also asked Wike to give more youths the opportunity to serve the state.

The National Youths Council of Nigeria, NYCN, in Rivers state will on Friday August 12th holds a special event in Port Harcourt to commemorate this year’s International Youth Day.
