JUST IN: Jigawa APC's Senatorial candidate Kiyawa is dead

The All Progressives Congress’ (APC) Senatorial candidate in Jigawa State, Tijjani Ibrahim Kiyawa is dead.

He reportedly died on Saturday in a Chinese Hospital from lung related ailment.

Kiyawa, said to be in his early 50s, was said to have been admitted in an Abuja hospital and was flown to China immediately when the lung ailment became serious.

He died while undergoing treatment at the hospital.

Governor Muhammad Badaru Abubakar of Jigawa State has mourned the death of Kiyawa, who would have represented Jigawa Central in next year’s general election.

He condoled with his family, saying that his demise was a great loss not only to his family but the Muslim Ummah.

Badaru, in a statement issued by Habibu Nuhu Kila, Special Adviser, Media and Public Relations, described late Kiyawa as as a loyal and dependable politician who contributed immensely to the political development of the country.

Badaru prayed to Almighty Allah to grant him an eternal rest and his family the fortitude to bear the loss.

Kiyawa was a popular politician who served as a member of the House of Representatives for Dutse and the Kiyawa Federal constituency from 2011-2015 under the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP.

He was also a PDP Gubernatorial aspirant in the 2019 general election but lost the primary election to Malam Aminu Ibrahim Ringim.

Kiyawa decamped to the All Progressives Congress, APC where he got the party’s senatorial ticket for the Jigawa central in the coming 2023 general election.
