Rivers 2023: APC asks court to disqualify PDP governorship candidate, 31 others

The All Progressives Congress, APC, has asked the court to disqualify the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, governorship candidate in Rivers,Siminalayi Fubara, 31 other candidates of the party from the 2023 general election.

In the suit, filed before a Federal High Court in Port Harcourt, the capital of Rivers state, APC also want the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC to be stopped from accepting the names of PDP candidates for 2023 elections.

The party asked the court to disqualify all the candidates of the PDP over alleged delay by their party in forwarding the register containing their names to INEC within thirty days as required by law.

The APC also wants the Court to disqualify all the PDP candidates because their party did not properly sign the letter containing their names of the before forwarding it to INEC.

When the case was mentioned in court, the lawyer to APC, Collins Dike, asked that the Court allow them serve the respondents using other means and the Court granted it allowing the APC to serve the affected PDP candidates by pasting the process on their walls.

ThePDP had also filed similar suites asking the court to disqualify APC and candidates of other parties from the 2023 election.
