2023: Rivers APC candidates vow to drag Judge to NJC

Candidates contesting for National Assembly seats in 2023 election on the platform of All Progressives Congress APC Rivers State have insisted that they will drag Justice Daylop-Pam of the Federal High Court in Port Harcourt to the National Judicial Commission, NJC over alleged bias in the suit filed against them by the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP.

In the suit, PDP is asking the court to disqualify of all the National Assembly candidates of APC for alleged non-compliance with the Electoral Act in the conduct of their party primary.

But the candidates said Justice Stephen Daylop-Pam’s had refusedto recuse himself from their case, contrary to their demand.

Speaking on their behalf other APC Candidates, Ezemonye Ezekiel-Amadi, a contestant, for the Emohua-Ikwerre Constituency in the House of Representatives insist that their protest against Justice Stephen Daylop-Pam of the Federal High Court against hearing their matter will yield positive results.

Ezemonye Ezekiel-Amadi, while speaking to Journalists on behalf other APC candidates has insisted that Justice Stephen Daylop-Pam will not preside over their suit in court.

He also said they are taking every legal step to ensure Justice Daylop-Pam steps down from the matter before taking the matter to National Judicial Commission, NJC.

Asita Honourable, the APC candidate for Rivers West Senatorial District, stated that they will oppose any attempt by Justice Stephen Daylop-Pam to hear their case.

Justice Daylop-Pam, however, adjourned the case till the 20th of September 2022 for hearing.

Also speaking to Journalists outside the Court room, Ezekiel-Amadi frowned at the decision of Justice Daylop-Pam not to stand down on the case.

Another interested party, Asita .O. Asita who spoke on behalf of the APC National Assembly Candidates in Rivers state, said they do not have confidence in Justice Daylop-Pam based on his relationship with Governor Wike.

Also, the APC publicity secretary in Rivers state, Dalington Nwauju said the right thing is for the Judge to recuse himself from the case following petitions against him.
