The Black Stars of Ghana have stopped home-based Super Eagles from qualifying for the 2023 Africa Nations Championship (CHAN), beating them 5-4 on penalties on Saturday.
The Eagles needed to overturn a two-goal deficit in the first leg in Ghana to stand a chance of qualifying for the tournament next year in Algeria.
The game ended 2-0 in favour of the Nigerian side, leaving the aggregate on 2-2.
The Ghanaian side scored all their five penalty kicks while the Eagles missed one of the kicks and crashed out of CHAN.
After a goalless first half, the Nigerian side mounted the pressure on the Ghanaians at the match played at the MKO Abiola National Stadium, Abuja.
The Eagles got the break on 75th minutes, after Zulkifilu Muhammed scored for Nigeria.
