9 women on the way to Libya intercepted in Kano

Security operatives in Kano have intercepted nine women being smuggled out from the Southern part of the country to Libya, the National Agency for the Prohibition of Trafficking In Persons (NAPTIP) has said.

Abdullahi Babale, Zonal Coordinator of NAPTIP in Kano told News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Kano on Tuesday that the victims were all female, aged between 19 years and 55 years.

Babale said that two suspected human traffickers were arrested in connection to the case.

He added that the victims were rescued in collaboration with the Nigeria Police

He said the victims who were taken from the Southern part of the country and were rescued while heading to Libya, for labour exploitation.

He said that the suspected traffickers would be arraigned in court, while the victims would undergo rehabilitation before being reunited with their respective families. (NAN)
