The lingering crisis in the All Progressives Congress (APC), in Edo State, has again cost it one of its leading members, Mrs. Elizabeth Ativie.
Ativie was a former Deputy Speaker and the only woman who have presided on Edo House of Assembly.
She spent a total of 12 years as a State lawmaker, with her first four years was on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), and the last eight years on the platform of the APC.
She announced her resignation from the party on Tuesday, at a press briefing held at the secretariat of the Nigeria Union of Journalists, (NUJ).
Ativie hinged her decision to dump APC on the lingering crisis in the State chapter of the party and also the non-inclusion of women in the forthcoming elections both on the State and the national levels.
She however has not announced her next move.
It would be recalled that Ativie’s effort to advance her political career was frustrated when she failed to secure APC’s ticket for Uhumwode Federal Constituency, in next year’s general election.
