Updated: DSS arrests Sheik Gumi’s aide Tukur Mamu at Kano airport

Tukur Mamu, a Nigerian publisher who became popular over his involvement in negotiation that led to the release of some of the hostages abducted by terrorists in the March 2022 attack on Abuja to Kaduna train was on Wednesday arrested by operatives of the Department of State Services, DSS, at Aminu Kano International Airport, Kano.

He was arrested on arrival from Egypt.

Mamu, who is also the spokesperson of the Kaduna-based cleric, Ahmad Gumi, was earlier arrested by the Interpol operatives in Egypt on his way to lesser Hajj in Saudi Arabia.

He was later released and made to return home. No reason was given yet for his arrest.

Mamu said he was arrested alongside his two wives and one other person.
