Nollywood actress Halima Abubakar was subjected to heavy criticism on Monday after admitting to having a sexual relationship with Apostle Johnson Suleman.
Suleman, the general overseer of the Omega Fire Ministries International, has been enmeshed in the labyrinth of “sex scandals” in the past years.
In July, the cleric was in the news again after a blog claimed he had affair with a host of Nigerian actresses including Abubakar, Georgina Onuoha, Queen Nwokoye, Shan George, and Vivian Metchie.
Others, according to the blog, include Lilian Bach, Iyabo Ojo, Ruth Kadiri, Mercy Johnson, Chinyere Winifred, Larriet Omo Brish, Ini Edo, Joy Ogbunu, Angela Okorie, and Mary Uranta.
At the time, the report sparked heated reactions on social media, with several of the named actresses dismissing the allegation.
Suleman also debunked the post and described the list as an unrealistic litany of names curated to bring him down.
However, in a dramatic twist on Sunday, Abubakar took to her Instagram stories to call out Suleman.
The film star claimed she agreed to date him at the time because the cleric told him he had separated from his wife.
“I f*ck up yes. I own my mistakes. But I won’t lie anymore. Nigga said he was separated. I didn’t meet a married man. I met a bizman with three kids. Long story, stay away from liars,” she wrote.
In another post, Abubakar also accused the clergyman of paying blogs monthly to promote lies.
“Every month only you. How do you sleep? You paid off the blogs, only you, God forbid. Look for lies and send it to your bloggers. They need am,” she added.
“But you you you JS. You bought market Sule. Emperor Sule. Allow me rest biko. Don’t fuck with me, bro. Dude.”
But surprisingly, some Nigerians seem not to believe the excuse given by Halima for dating Suleman.
One Obiageri Anaele, reacting to the matter, said: “This lady should rest. Who doesn’t know AJS is married with children and happy in his marriage? You dated him, please keep your DALLIANCE to yourself because we weren’t there with you guys. And that’s if your story is true.”
Another Nigerian Obiaruko Ndukwe said: “She is sick. To say he told her he was divorced with three kids and being a popular Preacher is enough evidence that she is not ok. Who doesn’t know that Suleman has been with his wife and 5 kids?”
Patience Eze said: “You are not ready to say the truth Halima Abubakar… I don’t know much about this man, but if I ever want to Google is there for me… So, stop seeking for sympathy, if you ever want to come clean be bold to do it with your full chest. See, I no holy pass you… But be bold enough to tell the truth whenever you are ready not this one sided story. You are based in Nigeria and can’t tell me you didn’t know he was married. Abeg, rest.”
Jide Ogunsanya said: “Separated and you believed? na you dey lie abeg.”
Mercy Njoku said: “Lol. Some lies do not make sense. The man has never hidden his wife and kids. Olosho (prostitutes) don take over Nollywood. Some people have been complaining.”
Elijah Onimisi wrote: “Na senseless people we believe your nonsense talk, Apostle Suleiman is preaching every time with his beautiful wife and their children’s, na you olosho he wants to come and marry, nonsense.”
Zoe Kyari: “A man whose wife and kids were never hidden and yet you believe he is divorced? If I tot wat you are saying makes any sense.”
Amb Queen Blessing: “You think say popular man like Suleman dey divorce nd you no no lol? It’s easy to say that to play the victim l laugh in Edo language.”
Onoja Victor Honesty: “Small time they will come with their crocodile tears begging for forgiveness….
May it not be well with anyone who want to distract our quest for a better Nigeria.”
Meanwhile, some Nigerians are asking why always Apostle Suleman.
Oladimeji Shodiya said: “Why always him?”
Isaac Okorie said: “Why always Suleiman. Could it be they are all lying? How does he sleep with all these accusations? May God Almighty have mercy on His church.”
