The Lagos State Government is scheduled to divert traffic at Maryland/Mende Underpass from Tuesday, September 20, 2022, due to the Opebi/Ojota link bridge construction.

Dr Frederic Oladeinde, the state Commissioner for Transportation, disclosed this in a statement on Sunday.

The commissioner advised motorists to use the Ojota Interchange to connect Maryland and its environs.

He assured residents that alternative routes have been mapped out to ease movement during the course of the reconstruction of the underpass.

For access to Emmanuel, Aderibigbe Shitta, and Adeoye Adeyemi Streets, motorists travelling along the axis should use Mobolaji Bank Anthony.

On the other hand, people travelling in the direction of Mende and its surroundings can use Mende Street to connect Oki Lane and link Ajose Street.

Similarly, the commissioner claimed that the September 17 repair of a stretch of the Lagos-bound lane at the Iyana Era/Badagry Expressway has been postponed until further notice.

A new date will be announced to the general public.

Oladeinde thanked motorists for their tolerance and cooperation and reaffirmed that personnel from the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA) would be dispatched to impacted routes to reduce inconvenience.

Residents were also thanked for cooperation as the gains of the ongoing projects will ameliorate the traffic challenges in the nation’s commercial capital.
