3 tenants fighting over 'turn to fetch water' land in court

Three tenants identified as Chidinma Orebiyi, 37; Favour Ikenna , 21 and Robert Ikenna have been arrested after they injured themselves fighting over whose turn it was to fetch water in their residence in their house in Oshodi area of Lagos.

The three tenants, who, according to the police, fought and constituted nuisance in their neighbourhood were on Tuesday docked in an Ikeja Chief Magistrates’ Court.

The police charged Chidinma Orebiyi, 37; Favour Ikenna , 21 and Robert Ikenna, 24, who all reside in Oshodi, Lagos with breach of peace and causing grievous harm.

The Prosecution Counsel, ASP Raji Akeem, told the court that the defendants committed the offence on July 24.

He said that they fought over whose turn it was to fetch water.

The prosecutor alleged that the defendants used sharp objects to inflict injury on themselves.

The offence, he said, contravenes the provisions of sections 54 and 246 of the Criminal Laws of Lagos State, 2015.

The defendants, however, pleaded not guilty to the charge.

The Chief Magistrate, Mrs B. O Osunsanmi granted the defendants bail in the sum of N50,000 each with one surety in like sum.

Osunsanmi adjourned the case until Sept. 28 for mention.(NAN)
