A Federal High Court in Lagos on Wednesday stopped the Labour Party’s presidential candidate, Peter Obi and his supporters from staging a mega rally at the Lekki Tollgate.

Obi and his supporters are planning to storm the Lekki Tollgate, scene of the October 20, 2020 #EndSARS shooting, on October 1 for a mega rally.

The court held that the supporters of Obi could pass through the tollgate, but must not stop there for any reason.

Justice Daniel Osiagor, the presiding judge ordered the Inspector General of Police and the Lagos Commissioner of Police to enforce the order of the court.

10 plaintiffs, including nine lawyers, had approached the court seeking to restrain Obi, the presidential candidate of the Labour Party; his running mate, Yusuf Baba-Ahmed; and the party’s supporters from holding the rally in Lagos.

They Adedotun Ajulo, Salamatu Suleiman Lewi, Hakeem Ijaduola, Ogunbona Akinpelu, Owolabi Oluwasegun, Mogbojuri Kayode, Wuyep Mantim Nadom, Dimimu Mabel, Kolawole Salami, and Wale Abe Lawrence.

According to them, the proposed rally could lead to breakdown of law and order in the area like what happened during the #EndSARS protest in Lagos.
However, the court adjourned till 4 November for hearing, to enable parties in the suit to be served.
