Oluwaseun Ezekiel Ilesanmi: A voice, a vision, a vessel
In the world of sacred classical music, few combine vocal artistry, leadership, and spiritual depth quite like Oluwaseun Ezekiel Ilesanmi. With a voice that commands silence and a presence that inspires reverence, he is more than a performer. He is a vessel.
From early beginnings in Ilesa, where he quietly followed his father to choir rehearsals, Oluwaseun developed a deep love for harmony and worship. What started as quiet observation turned into personal devotion and discipline that has shaped his musical and spiritual journey.
Although widely recognized as a gifted soprano soloist, Oluwaseun has emerged as a multifaceted figure within the sacred music space. His contributions span performance, conducting, coaching, and worship leadership. He has directed orchestras and vocal ensembles across diverse platforms, including New Covenant Church in Qatar, St. Paul’s Cathedral Church in Sagamu, and several branches of the Redeemed Christian Church of God in Ibadan.
Whether leading rehearsals or coordinating musicians during live services, his approach blends clarity with reverence. Every gesture carries intent. Every session is handled with prayerful focus.
“Music must be more than beautiful. It should be purposeful. Every note should carry the weight of what we believe,” he often says.
His international ministry includes invitations to perform in Kenya, Qatar, Dubai, and the United Kingdom. From solos during carol services to sacred concerts in cathedrals, Oluwaseun’s voice has become known not just for its range, but for its message.
As a teacher and mentor, he offers both online and in-person vocal training. He works closely with singers on interpretation, breathing, posture, and tone development, while also emphasizing spiritual preparation. His workshops across Nigeria and abroad have drawn aspiring singers who seek to minister with skill and integrity.
“I teach my students to remember that their voices carry a message. People may forget the song, but they will never forget how it made them feel.”
Oluwaseun currently serves as Patron of the RCCG Jesus Delegate Choir in Ibadan, guiding its members toward greater musical and spiritual depth. He continues to pour into others as he was once poured into.
His preparation before any public ministration includes not just vocal rehearsal, but spiritual alignment. Through prayer and fasting, he enters each moment with a sense of surrender and responsibility. For him, music is a sacred trust.
Looking to the future, Oluwaseun hopes to help build a new generation of sacred classical singers in Africa. He dreams of creating platforms for performance, training, and international collaboration. His vision includes studio recordings, sacred music concerts, and mentoring programs that blend musical discipline with ministry passion.
“The goal has never been fame. It has always been impact. Music gives us a voice, but ministry gives that voice meaning.”
Through every song, rehearsal, and performance, Oluwaseun continues to carry the sound of purpose. And in doing so, he is helping others find their own.
