326 suspected criminals busted in Niger

Police Command in Niger State said it has arrested about 326 suspects over banditry, kidnapping, culpable homicide and other crimes committed in different parts of the state.
The retiring Commissioner of Police in the state, Mr Monday Bala Kuryas disclosed at the farewell parade on Thursday at the Police Training School.
Kuryas said that 284 major cases were charged to court and successful prosecuted while 42 others are under investigation and awaiting trial.
He lauded the officers and men of the command for demonstrating high level of professionalism while discharging their constitutional mandates.
Kuryas also commended the state security committee for making it possible to record the successes recorded so far in the state.
“We work as a family in the ongoing fight against banditry, cattle rustling and other criminal elements.
The retiring commissioner advised the federal government to properly equip the police with state of art equipment for optimal performance.
He also commended traditional rulers and development association for coming forward with reliable information that paved way for the arrest of the suspected criminal elements in the state.
“I appeal to residents to continue to support the police and other security agencies with required information on movement of suspected characters in their midst”, he said
Governor Abubakar Bello lauded the retiring commissioner of Police for for the dedication to service to the state.
He said that the introduction of sensitive security measure by the command in the ongoing fight against criminal element had make it possible for the success recorded in the state.
Bello, represented by Commissioner for Home Affairs and Security, Mr Umar Emmanuel said that the state government appreciated the useful contribution of the police in the state.
