Court knocks Binani, APC out of Adamawa 2023 governorship election

If the decision of Federal High Court sitting in Yola delivered on Friday is not upturned at the higher courts, neither Aishatu Ahmed (Binani) the current candidate of the All Progressive Congress, APC or any other member of the party will contest for Adamawa governorship in 2023 election.

This was the import of judgment delivered by Justice Abdulaaziz Anka in the suit filed by Mallam Nuhu Ribadu.

The court, in the ruling acceded to the request of the Ribadu to declare Binani’s candidature invalid and unlawful.

Anka also said the Adamawa APC governorship primary conducted on May 26, 2022 was not compliant with the 2022 Electoral Act, the nation’s constitution, and the party guidelines.

But he refused the plea of the applicant for a fresh primary.

Instead, the Judge affirmed that with the court judgment, APC had no candidate for the 2023 governorship election in Adamawa State.
